Here's the new blog for us to share ideas about The Ragroof Players.
The aim is to start a process of sharing ideas on our 'brand', and thus to share and discuss proposals on such things as the visual identity of the company; the things we would like to say about the company in marketing and PR material; the sort of website we would like; the type of images we'd like to use etc etc.
So, to start the ball rolling a few words on fonts. I've set this blog up in 'Georgia' which is a favourite of mine for the following reasons: it is recognised by all browsers/computers so text won't get transposed or muddled on older browsers/computers; it is a a serif font which is easier to read than sans-serif fonts (such as Arial); it's stylish in a pleasantly old-fashioned way.
Your thoughts?
Also, here's a kind of 'mission statement plus' reworked from the recent news release – see what you think:
The Ragroof Players create performance projects and bespoke events that
celebrate social dance and popular theatre, both contemporary and historic.
Having worked together for
many years as Ragroof Theatre, five of the six company members are re-grouping
as The Ragroof Players, and
enthusiastically moving into a new phase with a clear focus on projects, both
new and existing, that explore the artistic possibilities of social dance and
popular theatre forms such as vaudeville, cabaret, comedy dance, and street
arts.
For 2013, we are continuing
to offer the ever-popular Ragroof Tea Dances; a wide variety of dance and vaudeville Cabaret routines; bespoke Balls, Parties & Specially
Themed Events; as well as the highly
successful street theatre show Shall We Dance? Encore! which is
now also offered as an indoor show, site-specific to dancehalls and ballrooms.
We will also continue to
offer workshops and residencies in all forms of social and popular dance,
including Ballroom, Latin, Swing, Charleston, Music Hall, Eccentric/Comedy
dance and many other forms.
Company members are also
available to be booked as DJs, dance teachers, performers, and choreographers.

ReplyDeleteI like it. The only bit I would edit out is the part about the five of six of us. It makes it sound from the outside like someone died. I think it is best not to mention numbers. I think it would also be nice to put something in there about the communities we have built and enjoy working/dancing with.
ReplyDeleteI think it is brilliant, well done Max.
